I am Dr. Janbee Shaik Mopidevi, currently working in Higher Education as a lecturer and the Chelmsford Labour Party’s candidate for Great Baddow this May. I believe in Labour values, in striving for an equal society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. I want everyone to be the best version of themselves. Regardless of caste, class, religion, sexual orientation, gender or any other artificial differences. I believe in human rights, justice and democracy. I have seen the threats to democracy from rightwing and authoritarian regimes around the world in recent years including in England.

I joined the Labour party to work on the side of people and contribute my bit to the community and to the future generations. As a potential councillor for Great Baddow, I promise to work for the best interests of everyone in the community.

I have a PhD in Education Studies from Anglia Ruskin University. A Masters in International Development from Erasmus University, Rotterdam, Netherlands and postgraduate degree in Political Science from the Central University, Hyderabad, India. I teach & research in the areas of education, social justice and childhood studies. I also teach education for sustainable development and strive for a good society where everyone feels connected and respected.
