Chelmsford CLP are proud to announce that any future general elections in the constituency will be fought by Penny Richards.

Penny had this to say on her election:

I was born, brought up and educated in Chelmsford and care deeply about it. Having to watch my city fight to save its hospitals and libraries, unable to house its most vulnerable people, has shown me the need to fight for change in every city.

Chelmsford is one of the wealthiest cities in the UK, there should not be people forced to live on the streets or families using foodbanks.

I decided to enter politics to oppose the worst excesses of the Tory government. I want to be proactive, to help prevent the further privatisation of the NHS and to help those thrown into destitution by unnecessary austerity measures.

I believe that everyone needs access to properly funded education, health and social care and that we need to act immediately to prevent climate breakdown.

I believe that we should remain in the EU instead of undertaking a damaging No Deal Brexit. The people should have a choice.

I will work hard to represent the people of this city in a free and fair parliament, and push for policies to improve the lives of people here.
