Sometime ago under pressure from Chelmsford Labour activists, Bellway Homes agreed to remove fire risk cladding from their development in Marconi Evolution. We are extremely disappointed to hear that apparently, the repairs done are not enough to make these properties safe. Since the Grenfell Tower fire, unsafe cladding has made properties unsellable, more expensive, and above all a danger to live in. Leaseholders have been left unable to get mortgages and having to pay for fire wardens out of their own pocket. It is hard enough to get on the housing ladder especially for first time buyers, without their homes being blighted in this way. They, like us, feel let down by Bellway,

Chelmsford Labour have resumed our work with Bellway, and are calling on them to show their good faith and repair these homes so the owners can get on with their lives. We have written to theLiberal Democrat Controlled Council to ask them to reconsider any planning applications from Bellway Homes, until they do the right thing and sort this out.
