Chelmsford Labour have responded to the Army & Navy consultation, you can find our full response below!

Chelmsford Labour supports the building of a ‘Hamburger Roundabout’ to replace the Army & Navy. Whilst we acknowledge that in theory this would have a higher impact on noise quality, and a greater effect on the landscape, we believe the increased speed of traffic, should lessen the impact on the air quality compared with queuing traffic. We also believe the speed of build is incredibly important and a solution needs to be built quickly to deal with the current impact on Chelmsfordians. We believe this option would also be better for cyclists and pedestrians.
Primarily we want to see more work done to make it easier for people to access Chelmsford through other means, there needs to be greater investment in public transport and helping people to cycle round our city.
The preferred location for the Park and Ride in our opinion would be the London Road site, as the impact on traffic will be less damaging to the surrounding communities.
We are committed to working with all parties to achieve a solution that works for all communities and all of Chelmsford.
