Welcome from your Chair |
December’s always a busy month, and there’s plenty going on in the local party ahead of the festive period. We’ll be out campaigning as usual, as well as having a Christmas gathering – see below for details. December is also an opportunity to look forward to 2024. It promises to be an exciting year, offering a general election and, with the help of Labour Party members in Chelmsford and across the country, a desperately-needed Labour government. I, and the rest of the Executive and campaign team, can’t wait; the opportunity to get rid of this shambolic Tory government can’t come soon enough. But we’ll need everyone’s help to achieve our objectives. If you’d like to get involved in our campaigns, please do get in touch using the contact details in this newsletter. We also need to make sure that we have the funds to support our campaigning – you can donate to the local party using the button below. We really value the contribution of all of our members, so I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has participated in the life of the local party this year. I’m so grateful for your help. Bring on 2024! |

“Managed decline”? |
Chelmsford Labour party activists were in Marconi Ward recently. They were alerted by the local residents about the shocking state of the footpaths and roads in the ward. What have the Tory controlled Essex County Council and the Liberal Democrat Chelmsford City Councillors been doing about it? Not a lot it seems! The maintaining of our highways and footpaths across the whole of Chelmsford leaves a lot to be desired, and we at Chelmsford Labour Party think that our elected representatives should be working to maintain and improve them, rather than leaving them in a state of “managed decline”, as Essex County Council have apparently previously declared.

We are running a Christmas foodbank appeal in which we are asking our members if they can contribute to our CLP donation to The Trussell Trust foodbanks in Chelmsford. Items we are looking for are listed opposite. We understand that this time of year can be tough for lots of people financially and only ask for contributions if you are able to do so. Not all items on the list above have to be included in your donation, just whatever you can manage. We politely ask that you check the date on your goods before donating. We want to make our donation as big as possible, so anything you can give will be hugely appreciated! Let’s help give Christmas to families who need it the most. Should you have any questions about the appeal, please feel free to call/text our Vice Chair, Ione Hepworth, on 07934 139372. |

Our Press Officer, Jon, has been keeping the local papers busy with a letter published this month! Essex Chronicle, 2 November 2023 Both Chelmsford Labour Party and Chelmsford TUC campaigned for the ticket offices to remain open. We hope this silly idea won’t be revisited and these ticket offices will remain open for good, |
